The Formula 1 Heineken Las Vegas Grand Prix returns to the Strip on November 19–21, 2026. Booking a room near the circuit sounds like the obvious move. For most visitors it is the wrong one.
The reason is simple: several of the hotels closest to the track sit inside the road closure perimeter. Getting a car in or out during race hours ranges from difficult to impossible. This guide covers what actually closes, when, and how to pick a location that works for the way you plan to spend the weekend.
The 2026 race weekend at a glance
Unlike most Grands Prix, Las Vegas runs at night and finishes on Saturday rather than Sunday. If you are flying in, that changes your travel dates.
| Day | Date | On track |
|---|---|---|
| Thursday | November 19, 2026 | Free practice sessions |
| Friday | November 20, 2026 | Final practice and qualifying |
| Saturday | November 21, 2026 | Grand Prix |
Dates confirmed on the official Formula 1 2026 calendar. Session start times are published closer to the event on f1lasvegasgp.com.
Track action runs late. In previous years, noise from qualifying and the race carried past 1 a.m. and was audible inside rooms at properties along the circuit. That matters if anyone in your group plans to sleep before 2 a.m.
How the circuit is laid out
The track was designed by the Tilke team and uses public roads that are barriered off for the event. It starts in a purpose-built pit area at Harmon Avenue and Koval Lane, runs north up Koval, loops around the Sphere, heads west along Sands Avenue, then turns south onto Las Vegas Boulevard.
That Boulevard section is the part everyone recognises. It is a 1.9 km run where cars hit their maximum speed, passing the Venetian, the Mirage, Caesars Palace and the Bellagio Fountains between turns 12 and 14. The circuit then leaves the Strip and heads east along East Harmon Avenue for turns 14 to 17, before a fast left kink returns it to the start/finish straight.
The distinction between East and West Harmon is not pedantry. It is the single most useful thing to understand when you choose a hotel.
Road closures: the part most visitors get wrong
The 2026 closure schedule has not been published yet. But the pattern has held since 2023, and the 2025 edition is a reliable guide to what to expect.
| What closed in 2025 | When | Practical effect |
|---|---|---|
| Koval Lane, Rochelle Ave to Harmon Ave | Full closure, ten consecutive days | Properties off Koval lost normal vehicle access for over a week |
| Las Vegas Boulevard, Spring Mountain Rd to Harmon Ave | Both directions, during track hours | No driving on the Strip itself for four nights |
| Sands Avenue | During track hours | Affected access to the Venetian and Palazzo |
| Soft closures / full closures | From mid-afternoon, reopening between midnight and 3 a.m. | Arriving by car after mid-afternoon was not realistic |
Based on the 2025 closure schedule published by Clark County and race organisers. Confirm 2026 timings at transportation.f1lasvegasgp.com before you travel.
Some properties inside the perimeter issued guests special access passes and restricted them to one vehicle per room. Others closed their parking garages entirely for the duration of the closures and redirected guests to a sister property for check-in and luggage.
Race organisers encourage walking to the circuit from nearby hotels rather than driving. Designated rideshare pick-up and drop-off points have historically been set up at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, Tuscany, Park MGM and the Hughes Center — not at individual resorts.
East side or west side: what actually changes
The circuit sits almost entirely east of Las Vegas Boulevard, apart from the Boulevard straight itself. That splits Strip accommodation into two very different experiences.
| Inside the perimeter (east of the Strip) | West of the Strip | |
|---|---|---|
| Walk to the circuit | Shortest | Longer, but direct via pedestrian bridges |
| Vehicle access during closures | Restricted or suspended | Maintained |
| Arriving mid-afternoon by car | Often not possible | Possible |
| Noise overnight | Significant | Reduced with distance |
| Airport transfers | Complicated on race days | Normal |
If you hold grandstand tickets and intend to be trackside every session, being inside the perimeter has real advantages and you accept the constraints that come with it. If you are travelling with people who are not all attending every session, or you have a group that needs to move around, the west side is the more forgiving base.
Staying at CityCenter during race week
Secret Suites at Vdara sits at 2600 West Harmon Avenue, inside CityCenter — west of Las Vegas Boulevard, and off the circuit. Vehicle access is not cut off by the Koval and East Harmon closures, and the Strip is reachable on foot.
Our suites are two-bedroom apartments rather than hotel rooms, which matters for a race weekend more than it does the rest of the year. Groups travelling for F1 tend to be four to six people who want to stay together, keep separate bedrooms, and have somewhere to eat before heading out rather than queuing for a restaurant table on the busiest weekend of the Las Vegas calendar.
You can see the layouts on our four floor plans, and the Bellagio Fountain View corner suites face the stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard the cars use.
Booking timing
Race weekend is one of the two or three highest-demand periods of the year in Las Vegas, alongside New Year’s Eve. If you are still deciding, our guide to celebrating New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas covers the same booking dynamics for the December peak.
Two practical points. Minimum-stay requirements are common across the Strip for this weekend. And because the race finishes on Saturday, Sunday departures are heavily concentrated — book airport transport in advance rather than expecting to hail a ride.
Frequently asked questions
When is the F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix 2026?
The race weekend runs November 19–21, 2026, with the Grand Prix on Saturday, November 21. It is the 22nd round of the 2026 Formula 1 season. Las Vegas is contracted to host the race through 2027.
Which roads close during the Las Vegas Grand Prix?
Historically, Koval Lane, East Harmon Avenue, Sands Avenue and the section of Las Vegas Boulevard between Spring Mountain Road and Harmon Avenue. Closures begin in the afternoon and roads reopen after track action ends, typically between midnight and 3 a.m. The 2026 schedule is published at transportation.f1lasvegasgp.com.
Can you watch the race from a hotel room?
It depends entirely on the property, the floor and the orientation, and on where temporary grandstands and barriers are installed that year. Do not book a room on the assumption that you will see the track from it — confirm with the property directly before booking.
Do you need a car for F1 weekend in Las Vegas?
No, and it is actively unhelpful. Organisers encourage walking from nearby hotels, and designated rideshare points are set up away from individual resorts. A hotel within walking distance of your zone entrance is worth more than parking.
How loud is it?
Loud enough to be heard inside rooms at properties along the circuit, running past 1 a.m. on all three nights. Some hotels on the track offer earplugs on request.
